Walter Ross Rogers

WALTER ROSS ROGERS, age 75, of Maumelle, Ark., began his new life in heaven on Friday, June 28, 2013. He was born on Dec. 2, 1937 to Dentious and Avis Rogers of Henderson, Texas. After his family moved to Camden, Ark. in 1955, Walter graduated from Camden Fairview High School in 1956. Soon after, Walter married the love of his life, Janice (Jan) Grinder on Nov. 30, 1958. Walter quickly excelled in the plumbing profession and moved his family to Little Rock, Ark. in 1962. He was a principal founder of the Associated Plumbers Inc. in 1987 and served as president of the corporation until 1999 when he retired to focus on his family and spending more time enjoying life. His passion for his profession and helping others continued to remain part of his everyday life. In 2003, he founded Rogers Plumbing Repair and ran it out of his home in Maumelle, Ark. Walter truly enjoyed his new business and was well known and loved by many for his helpful and caring nature. He continued to serve in his community and his church until his courageous battle with cancer finally slowed him down. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Dentious and Avis Rogers and brother, William C. Rogers. He is survived by his wife, Jan Rogers; brother, Leo Rogers of Camden; and sister, Mona Jeffus (Hugh); three daughters, Lisa Stovall (Mark), Lynn Dickey (Mike), Laurie Gurley (Linc); grandchildren, Jessica Broadaway Pope (Brandon), Ben Broadaway, Chase Clement, Zachary Stovall, Nick Stovall, Jennifer Gurley DeVore (Josh), Kimbre Dickey; and great-grandchildren, Kori Pope, Mila Pope, and Dayton Tinnon. Walter was raised a Methodist by profession of faith in God and Jesus Christ and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Maumelle where he served on the Board of Trustees for many years. A visitation with the family will be held at First United Methodist Church of Maumelle, 1201 Edgewood Drive, Maumelle, Ark., on Monday July 1, from 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial service celebrating the life of Walter Rogers will be held Tuesday, July 2, at 11 a.m., also at FUMC Maumelle.
