Juanita Long Monts, 94, of Little Rock departed this life peacefully Friday, March 1, 2013. Mrs. Monts enjoyed an exemplary professional career which spanned 20 plus years. She had taught at the Arkansas School for the Blind. She was also a lifelong member of First Baptist Church-Highland Park, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and Dunbar class of 1936. She was preceded in death by her husband Hutella "Mack" Monts; parents, Samuel (Sr.) and Diamond Long; three brothers, Newton Long, Lucius Long, Herman Long; and one sister, Ernestine Long Washington. Memories of her will forever be treasured by her children: Herbert Monts (Dora), Juanita "Maxine" Wilkins, Lester Monts (Jeanne), Carolyn Monts Nichols, Jerome Monts, Ernest Monts (Michelle), Howard Monts (Angela), Melvin Monts, and Kenneth Monts (Jenifer); fourteen grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren; her siblings, three brothers Samuel Long, Charles Long, Jerome Long; and a sister, Barbara Long Hill. Special thanks to Shavita Wilson and her staff for the love and care so graciously given to our Mother. May God richly bless you. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 8, at First Baptist Church-Highland Park, 3800 West 18th Street, Rev. W.W. Walker officiating. Interment will be in Little Rock National Cemetery.
