Ruth C. Gilliam

Ruth C. Gilliam, age 94, of Fairfield, California, formerly of Beebe died February 12, 2013. She was born to Joe and Katie (Henry) Belew in Antioch June 5, 1918. Ruth married Dennis Gilliam on June 2, 1937 and they began their life together. As a couple, they worked together in the Hardware and Lumber business in Sand Springs, Oklahoma until retirement in 1995. Ruth was also the Welfare Director and loved working with people in the Sand Springs community. Later, to be near Ruth's family, they moved to Little Rock, Arkansas. Ruth suffered a severe stroke in 2009 and relocated to Fairfield, California to be with her son and daughter-in-law. Ruth is survived by her son, Dr. David Gilliam and wife, Deborah; two granddaughters, Natalie and Vanessa all of Fairfield, California and sister, Blanche Hicks of Atkins. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dennis; two brothers, Clyde and Murry Belew and one sister; Bernice Turner. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2013, at Westbrook Funeral Home, with burial in Beebe Cemetery.
