Patricia Franklin Bing, 71, died Saturday, February 23, 2013 at St. Vincent Infirmary in the Arkansas Hospice inpatient unit in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born November 18, 1941 near Pleasant Hill, AR to teachers Leroy and Maurice Watson Trussell, who was spontaneously paralyzed months later. She was devoted to her paraplegic mother and her father. She was a member of Hall High's Lost Class of 1959 and Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church. She studied theatre & art at Little Rock University, married Travis Franklin, and had one child. They lived in Baton Rouge, La., while he pursued a music degree at LSU, and divorced in 1966. She returned to Little Rock and began work at St. Vincent Infirmary as a transcriptionist in Pathology. After 30 years, she transferred to Visiting Nurse Association, which had served her mother since its early years. She worked at VNA until she retired from St. Vincent in February 2012, after 46 years of service. She entered the St. Vincent Emergency Department on May 12, 2012, Mother's Day eve, and never recovered. She was an intelligent, creative spirit who sang, played piano & guitar, wrote poetry, enjoyed creating visual art, and had a rapier wit. She loved nature, antiques, decorating, costuming, designing jewelry, and family reunions. Patricia is survived by her beloved daughter Kelly of Little Rock, aunts, and many cousins she challenged at charades. Her parents precede her in death. A visitation will be from 1 p.m.-3 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013, in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth, 5800 W. 12th Street, Little Rock, Arkansas. 501-661-9111.
