David Lavere Gale Crockett

David Lavere Gale Crockett departed this earthly life on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at the age of 80 years. He was born February 17, 1933 in Johnson County, Illinois to Charles and Gladys (Robinette) Crockett. David is a graduate of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and completed a higher academic degree at the Sorbonne in Paris, France. He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 and then embarked on a teaching career. David taught French at Midland Park High School in New Jersey and later taught at Shawnee Community College in southern Illinois. Throughout his adult life he served as organist for various denominational churches. From 1989 to 1998 he served as organist and choir director at Immaculate Conception Church in North Little Rock, and from 1998 to the present, as organist for the St. John the Baptist Latin Mass Community and St. Patrick Church, both in North Little Rock. Throughout his adult life he taught private piano and voice lessons to many children and adults. David was fluent in four languages and was an avid opera lover. He is a 4th degree knight in the Knights of Columbus. David is survived by his wife of 32 years, Carol Siemon, his twin brother, Dr. H. Dale Crockett of Fort Myers; his son, Larry Gavin Crockett of Murphysboro, Illinois; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a step-daughter and a step-son. In lieu of flowers, David requests donations to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 505 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105. Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery in Vienna, Illinois. A visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday followed by a rosary service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements by North Little Rock Funeral Home, a Smith Family Funeral Home.
