Vera Emmer Evans, age 99, of Little Rock, Arkansas stepped into Jesus' arms on Monday, March 11, 2013 at the Baptist Health Medical Center. She was born May 23, 1913 to her late parent's Jim and Alice Baker Kelley in Mayflower, Arkansas. She was a former long time member of Geyer Springs Baptist Church before joining East End Baptist Church. Vera loved her church and loved to work with children of all ages. In addition, she loved to visit and cook for her family and friends, babysat numerous children and loved to work in the garden. She is preceded in death by her husband George Evans, one son, Richard Evans, one daughter, Wilma Evans and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Evans and one great-granddaughter, Michelle McHenry, five sisters and three brothers. Survivors include her daughter, Geraldine Kilmer (James) of Little Rock; two grandsons, Rick Evans of Cabot and Billy Kilmer (Becky) of East End; two granddaughters, Brenda Gubanski of Little Rock and Lynn Kilmer of Searcy and seven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at East End Baptist Church with Brother Jess Whitley and Paul Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery. A visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home, 5800 W. 12th Street, Little Rock, Ark. (501) 661-9111.
