Jewel L. Elkins Ward, 98, passed away March 12, 2013. She was born to the late Harold F. Elkins and Nell Lee Bell Cox in Tomberlin, in Lonoke County, Arkansas, and graduated from England High School in 1934. She married Ned P. Ward in 1937. She is a member of Levy United Methodist Church and belonged to Home Demonstrator, made bandages for World War II Veterans, was a Den Mother for the Scouts, leader for the Boy and Girl Scouts and was seven year Chairman of the circle "Spice of Life' from 1972-1979 at the Levy United Methodist Church. Jewel was a member of "The Wedding Bells", doing the decorations and liked to make crafts for the Bazaar every year. She loved flowers, gardening and art. She is survived by two daughters, Donna Ward Shirley (Wayne) of Jonesboro and Nedda Ward Swift (Danny) of North Little Rock; son, Larry E. Ward of Knoxville, Tennessee; and grandson, Evan Swift of North Little Rock. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ned P. Ward; brothers, Clarence Elkins and H.F. Elkins Jr.; four sisters, Mildred Johnson, Gladys Davis, Louise Evans, Marjorie Ambrose. Family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 PM Thursday, March 14, at North Little Rock Funeral Home with a Graveside Service at 2:00 PM Friday at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
