Lula Sue Silliman, 86, died peacefully Monday, March 11, 2013 in Tyler, Texas. Daughter of Callie Roberta Dunn and William Edward Silliman, she was born November 17, 1926 in Camden, Arkansas. She was a graduate of Camden High School and Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. She had a career with the former Silliman Agency and sat on several committees and the Board of Directors of First Federal Savings and Loan which later became Heartland Bank. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Camden where she also served on many of the church's committees. If any description could be given of Lula Sue, it would that of servant. She served her family, her friends, her beloved Methodist Church and the city of Camden faithfully for all her adult life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Delores Silliman Sheets. She is survived by her nieces, Roberta Sheets Schroeder and husband Rodney, Melinda Sheets Burge and husband Scott; her nephew, Charles Edward Sheets and wife, Diana; her cousin, James Lee Silliman and wife, Sue (II); her great-nieces, Aubrey S. Tolentino, Alexandra and Ellen Burge and Cathy Sheets, and great-nephews, Aaron Schroeder, Harrison Burge, Layne Sheets and Gunner Worley, as well as innumerable friends whom she loved as family. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2013 at First United Methodist Church with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 121 Harrison, Camden, Ark. 71701 or the Silliman Scholarship Fund, 121 Harrison, Camden, Ark. 71701.
