Mary Noel Tompkins

Mary Noel Tompkins passed away on Monday, March 18, 2013 at her home in Fayetteville, Arkansas surrounded by her husband and family. She was born October 3, 1934 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Josephine and Gilbert Kenney. Mary Noel attended the University of Arkansas and graduated in 1956 with a degree in Elementary Education. While at the University she was a proud member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority where for many years she served as Chapter Advisor and as House Corporation Board Member. Mary Noel was an Elder of the First United Presbyterian Church of Fayetteville. She was also active in the Perennial Garden Club and PEO Chapter S. Her first husband was John Y. Bonds, Jr, who preceded her in death in 1982. In 1984 she married C. Larry Tompkins and moved back to Fayetteville, Arkansas where she lived until her death. She and Larry traveled extensively and enjoyed their time together. Mary Noel was an avid Razorback fan. She and Larry attended most U of A sporting events. She is survived by her beloved husband, Larry; five children: John Bonds of Fort Worth, Texas, Mike Bonds and his wife Cindy, of Kenilworth, Illinois, Ken Bonds of Kansas City, Ross Tompkins and his wife Traci of Austin, Texas and Geoff Tompkins and his wife Adinda of Bloomington, Illinois and nine grandchildren. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Moore's Chapel. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. for Mary Noel at the First United Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Endowment Fund of the First United Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville.
