Shara was born January 6, 1927, in Deland, Florida, and grew up in Arkansas. She graduated from Malvern High School in 1944 and studied at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. She married William B. Adams of Malvern in 1950. Shara lived with her family in Syracuse, New York and Palos Verdes, California before returning to Harrison in 1987. Shara was Miss Malvern in the 1945 Miss Arkansas pageant. Gifted with a beautiful voice, she was known to break into song at any opportunity and was often a church soloist in communities in which she lived. A gourmet chef, she loved to spread joy wherever she could. Shara enjoyed reading murder mysteries, the New Yorker magazine, working Sunday New York Times crossword puzzles, flower gardening, and helping others. Parents, Garland and Vera (Alexander) Collie; husband; and brother, David Baumgardner, preceded her in death. Her children, Emily Adams (Carmen Arick), Little Rock, William Adams, Miami, Fla., Stuart Adams, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and Sara Schell (Rick), Nashville, Tenn.; her cousin, Sara Rankin, Harrison; honorary son, Pavel Almaguer, Ft. Lauderdale; nieces and nephew; a host of grand-nieces, grand-nephews, cousins, and dear friends survive her. Graveside service 1 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Rose Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.
