Winfred E. McDowell

Winfred E. McDowell, known affectionately as "Mr. Mac", 77, of Norman passed away Sunday March 17, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Mr. Mac loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved gardening and was known for growing the best watermelons in Montgomery County. He was a member of Lake Ouachita Baptist Church and loved his church family. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Erbin and Ludie Mae McDowell; three brothers, Richard McDowell, Wilburn McDowell, and Marshall McDowell; and one daughter, Charlotte Townsend. He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Virginia McDowell. Additional survivors include two brothers, Parnell and wife Pat McDowell and Terrell and wife Doris McDowell, all of Texarkana; three sisters, Marjorie Buckley of Texarkana, Janet Moore of El Dorado, and Betty and husband Don Bounds of Texarkana; one son, Winfred McDowell, Jr. and wife Renee of Natchitoches, Louisiana; two daughters, Florence and husband David West of Cleveland, Tennessee and Candy and husband Glenn Lockeby of Norman, Arkansas; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Arrangements were by Caruth-Hale Funeral Home of Hot Springs, Arkansas with a private memorial to be held at a future date. Guests may register at www.caruth-hale.com.
