Ovie G. Sledge

OVIE G. SLEDGE, 91, of Little Rock, formerly of Dermott, Ark. died Friday March 22, 2013. Mrs. Sledge was born in Damascus, Ark. a daughter of the late Lee and Julie Ann Hartwick Stevenson. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Earl C. Sledge. She was a member of Temple Baptist church where she was a member of the JOY Sunday School Class and she was involved with helping serve at the Baptist Student Union at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. She loved to cook and enjoyed gardening. Survivors include her son, Jerry Don (Carolyn) Sledge of Little Rock, Ark.; daughter, Virginia (R.V.) Pierson of Sherwood, Ark.; grandchildren, Robert (Ann) Pierson of Scottsdale, Ariz., John Pierson of Sherwood, Ark., Dax (Hayley) Sledge of Little Rock, Ark. and Tiffany (Anguel) Kehayov of Little Rock, Ark.; five great-granddaughters. Visitation will be 12:30-2 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Temple Baptist Church in Dermott, Ark. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the church with Rev. Jody Gannaway and Rev. Bob Franklin officiating. Burial will follow at Dermott Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service.
