Carolyn Jane Goodrich Short

Carolyn Jane Goodrich Short of Little Rock, wife of DeWitt Short, went home to heaven on March 25, 2013. Carolyn was born in Little Rock on October 7, 1930, daughter of the late Margaret (nee Beck) and Russell Goodrich. She was a graduate of Little Rock High School. After marrying and raising their children in Little Rock, Carolyn and DeWitt relocated several times, living in Asheville, North Carolina; Ballwin, Missouri; and Checotah, Oklahoma before returning to Little Rock in 1993. In each move, Carolyn was actively involved in both church and community. Carolyn truly had a servant's heart, and she loved helping people, whether teaching children at The Anthony School, serving as church secretary at St. Paul United Methodist Church, delivering Meals on Wheels to shut-ins, raising funds for missions, or simply remembering her long list of friends and family with birthday cards. Her ready smile, tireless work, gracious spirit and kind words blessed the lives of countless others. Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, DeWitt; brother, Bill (Deanne) Goodrich of Little Rock; her children, Sonny Short (Lottie) of Indianapolis, Indian, Russ Short (Sarah) of Little Rock, David Short (Deb) of Bentonville, Arkansas and Kathy Gravis (Roger) of Little Rock. Her grandchildren are Alan Short (Kelly), of Fishers, Indiana, Tal Short (Emily) of Randolph, Massachusetts, Rusty Short (Amanda) of Little Rock, Holt Short (Katie) of Little Rock, Jennifer Brown (Shawn) of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Melissa Smith (Drew) of Rogers, Arkansas, Katy Beth White (Greg) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Mary Carolyn Gravis of Little Rock. Great-grandchildren include Julianna, Cooper, Stella, and Henry Short of Fishers, Indiana, Caleb and Lauren Short of Little Rock, Addie Louise and Danielle Brown of Bartlesville, Penny, Camden, and Jordan Smith of Rogers, and Colin and Jacob White of Colorado Springs. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Presbyterian Village for their compassionate care. A service celebrating Carolyn's life will be held at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Little Rock on Friday, March 29 at 1 p.m., led by the Reverend Jerry Collins.
