Martha Steward Gorman

Martha Steward Gorman, 71, of Cabot, passed away March 24th at Baptist Springhill Hospital in North Little Rock, Ark. surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 3, 1941 to Foster G. Steward and Louise M. Steward in Heber Springs, Ark. Martha was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Raymond S. Gorman, her mother and father, and her grandparents Ethel and Homer Murray and Clara and Walter Steward. She is survived by her two daughters, Rhonda Gorman Ickes (Douglas James) of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Shannon Gorman McKinney (Frank Cox) of Little Rock, grandchildren, Katharine Rae Kuca of Little Rock and Keatts Gorman McKinney of Little Rock; brother, Foster G. Steward III (Fonda) of Searcy and two sisters, Gloria Steward Cathey (Keith) of Heber Springs, and Donna Steward Carter (Larry) of Quitman. She also has a large loving family of nieces and nephews. Martha grew up in Pangburn and played basketball for Pangburn High School where she was All-State in basketball. She was also Miss Cleburne County in 1959. After graduation, she worked for the Corps of Engineers on the development of Greers Ferry Lake. During the dedication of Greers Ferry Lake, she also had the opportunity to meet with President John F. Kennedy. Martha was an avid golfer at Rolling Hills Country Club in Cabot. She was a devoted member of the Methodist church community. She also loved to garden and had a wonderful green thumb. She mostly enjoyed being with her friends, family and especially her grandchildren. The family would like to express sincere thanks to the wonderful care our mother received at Baptist Springhill, especially to our angels, Dr. Greenwood, Dr. Fernandez and the ICU nursing staff. There will be a visitation at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, 700 N. 2nd Street in Cabot on Wednesday, March 27th from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday March 28th at Cabot United Methodist Church.
