Theodore Nathaniel Christopher Sr., age 86 passed away Friday, March 22, 2013 at Hurley Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held 12 noon Thursday, March 28 at Vernon Chapel A.M.E, 5802 Dupont St., Flint, Mich. Pastor Mickarl D. Thomas Sr. officiating. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. Family hour will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Mr. Theodore Nathaniel Christopher Sr. was born May 29, 1926 in Stephens, Arkansas, the son of Eddie and Eunice Christopher. Mr. Christopher attended school in Camden, Ark., he served as a veteran in the U.S. Army. He had a job as a bus dispatch announcer, he worked for General Motors for a time, and also as a security guard at a couple of different places in Little Rock, Ark. in his later years. Mr. Christopher took college classes at Mott Community College, and Shorter College in Little Rock, Ark. He lead the African Methodist Episcopal churches in Idlewild, Mich., Terre Haute, Ind., Davenport, IA and other various small churches in Arkansas. He was a long standing Assistant Pastor at Vernon Chapel A.M.E. Church during the 1970's and later Bethel A.M.E. Church in Little Rock, Ark., during the turn of the century. In his later years Mr. Christopher was very interested in computers, and took a few different computer classes during that time. He was a true gentleman greeting everyone he met warmly whether he knew you or not. Mr. Christopher had an entrepreneurial spirit within him. He was always thinking up ideas for a new business, but most of all he loved to pray and to read his Bible. Mr. Christopher is survived by his son Theordore N. Christopher Jr., two step-children, Helen R. Hayes and Roy A. Hayes, three step-grandchildren, Juwan Hayes-Harris, Ashley Hayes and Ryan Hayes, sister-in-law, Earnestine Armstrong and a host of other friends and relatives. Mr. Christopher was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Eunice, brothers, Burnis J.Christopher and Benny Armstrong and sister-in-law, Arnetta Christopher.
