John William Bishop III, 90, of Hot Springs Village, Ark., died Friday, March 29, 2013 in Bryant, Ark. Mr. Bishop was born Oct. 26, 1922 in Nashville, Ark. He was a retired aerospace engineer and a member of the Methodist Church. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served as a bombardier during WWII receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross, Distinguished Unit Citation, and Purple Heart. He retired from the Air Force reserve in 1973 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Lee Martindale Bishop in January 2013. He was the son of John W. II and Gladys Holt Bishop. He is survived by one sister, Eleanor B. Coleman of Texarkana, Texas and a number of nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Nashville Cemetery, Nashville, Ark. with Air Force military rites. Burial will be under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas. The family will receive friends from 4:30 - 6 p.m. on Monday, April 1, 2013, at Texarkana Funeral Home, Texarkana, Texas.
