WALTER BALLARD HAYNIE of Little Rock, Ark., passed away on March 28, 2013. He was 63 years old. Walter was born in Longview, Texas, on January 28, 1951, to Richard Moss Haynie and Leanora Ballard Haynie. He graduated from Valley High School in Las Vegas, Nev., and attended the University of North Texas. Although he would live in many states, he always called Texas home. In addition to the Lone Star State, Walter loved first and foremost his son, Matt, and his daughter, Samantha. The music of Willie Nelson and Jimmy Buffett, golf, and playing the guitar were among his passions. He also treasured his time on the water, from his home on the Arkansas River to his visits to Key West. Above all, Walter was known for his wicked sense of humor, his kind heart, and his care for others, especially for his family and friends. Walter was always there for his loved ones, whether by lending an ear, giving advice, or telling a joke. Walter is survived by his daughter, Samantha Haynie, of Alexander, Arkansas; his son, Matthew Haynie, of Washington, D.C.; two brothers; four sisters; and many cousins, nephews, nieces, and a legion of loving friends. He will be dearly missed. A celebration of his life, for family and friends, will be held in the coming weeks. Arrangements are by Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Ark., (501)224-8300. Online guestbook: www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/chenal.
