MARY BROWN PETERS, 90, of Little Rock, passed away on Oct. 10, 2013 in West Monroe, La. She was born in Dierks, Ark. on Feb. 22, 1923. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and retired after 40 years of service. She was a long-time member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where she held numerous leadership positions in her women's group and Sunday School class and formed many lifetime friendships. She loved spending time with her grandsons and supporting all of their endeavors. She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Richard "Bo" Peters, and her parents, Alford Brown and Velda Brown Simoneau. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley (Mark) Pilcher of West Monroe, La.; grandson, Chad (Ali) Pilcher of Birmingham, Ala.; grandson, Ryan (Meredith) Pilcher of Shreveport, La.; great-granddaughter, Avery Pilcher; future great-grandson, R.G. Pilcher; sister, Martha Paul of Clinton, Ark. and special friend, Louie Strickland. Visitation will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church, 501 North Shackelford Road, Little Rock, Ark. 72211, on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Immanuel Baptist Church Chapel immediately following the visitation (at approximately 2 p.m.) A private burial service will be held at Forest Hills Cemetery on Oct. 14, 2013. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Immanuel Baptist Church.
