Milton Owens

Milton Owens of Little Rock, Ark. passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2013. He was born on August 10, 1940 to the late Carroll and Elizabeth Owens. Milt attended Arkansas Tech and WestArk Community College before graduating from Little Rock University. Milt entered the insurance business which took him to agencies in Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia and eventually back to Little Rock in 1973. A past president of Pleasant Valley Country Club, and also served on the Board of The Little Rock Boys and Girls Club and Arkansas Lighthouse for the Blind. He attended St. James United Methodist Church and was a member of the men's Thursday morning Bible study. He also worked with various civic organizations throughout his life. He loved the Arkansas outdoors. He was an avid duck hunter, fisherman, and loved to fly as a licensed pilot and was a fan of all things Razorback. He enjoyed his buddies on the golf course, sailing, snow skiing, and traveling with his wife June Owens, of 16 years. He also traveled to support his grandson Jordan during his football career and was very proud to be presented the 12th Man Award for his dedication to the Blue Springs football team in 2009. He is also survived by one son, Milton Chipman Owens Jr. (Lourdes), of Fort Worth, Texas, two daughters, Carol Leigh Owens (Ranee Harp) of Little Rock, Ark. and Melodie Chrisman (Brian), of Blue Springs, Mo.; six grandchildren, Marie Binkley, Angela, Elizabeth, and Hunter Owens, Jordan and Regan Chrisman. Three great grandchildren, Michael, Emily, Seth and one on the way, many cousins and friends. Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, October 18, 2013 at St. James United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Ark. (501) 224-8300.
