Delbert Dean Rogers, 87, entered Heaven Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013. He was born July 22, 1926 to John and Versia Rogers in Marsden, Ark. Known by Dean to his friends and Papaw to his beloved grandson, he was Mr. Rogers to hundreds of elementary students he lovingly taught for 23 years in Monticello and Hope. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Fayetteville. An Army veteran and one of 10 siblings, Dean graduated from Ouachita Baptist University, became an ordained minister and attended Southwestern Seminary. As an interim preacher he met Juanita Jones – a relationship that became a 57-year marriage filled with love and unity. Before beginning his teaching career in Monticello, he was an administrator at the Arkansas Baptist Home for Children. He and his adoring "Baby," wife Juanita, retired to Northwest Arkansas in 1990. Retirement memories included the Razorbacks, reunions, and trips to homes in Hot Springs. He was preceded in death by sisters, Bea Dixon, Jean Martin and Mary Phillips and brothers John Hollis Jr. and Rudy Rogers. Survivors include wife, Juanita of the home; son, Bill with daughter-in-law Julie and grandson, Greg of Springdale; brothers, Max Rogers of El Dorado, Rex Rogers and Harold Rogers of Texas; and sister, Gay Powell of Warren. Funeral services are Monday, Oct. 21, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville, Dr. Douglas Falknor officiating. Burial follows in Springdale's Bluff Cemetery.
