Retired SGM EARNEST N. LUSTER, 78, of Little Rock, departed this life Oct. 16, 2013 at Little Rock Veteran Hospital. Mr. Luster joined the Army on May 1, 1956 at the age of 20, where he serviced in the Vietnam War and participated in a 16-month clean up in Korea before retiring as Sargent Major on May 31, 1987 after 31 years, one month and one day. He received the following awards and medals: Legion of Merit, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Two Overseas Service Bars, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, Meritorious Service Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), Good Conduct Medal (9th Award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service. He was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lovie Luster; brothers, Doyle, Ralph, and Jackie Luster. He leaves to cherish his memory: sons, Earnest and Freddie Luster of Minneapolis, Minn., Frank Luster (Jerri Kay) of Dover, Ark., Steven Luster, Milwaukee, Wis.; daughters, Vanessa Luster of Charlotte, N.C., Angela McAdo (Gerald) of Dallas, Texas and Thomas Luster of California; siblings, Frankie Day of Las Vegas, Nev., Willie Luster (Mayola) Parham of Nevada, Alice Parsons (Walter) Belen of New Mexico, Carol Jones of San Antonio, Texas, George Luster (Margaree), Melvin Luster (Beverly), Joyce Ross and Shirley Luster Miller all of Little Rock, Ark.; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Special thanks to Baptist Hospital and the great nursing staff on 9-A for all the love, support and patience shown to our family which is greatly appreciated. Also special thanks to Andrea "Tina" Hubbard for her unwavering support and love from the beginning to the end. We will never be able to thank you enough.
