Clyde Evans Beard

Clyde Evans Beard, age 73, of Monticello, passed away Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013 at the Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello. Born November 24, 1939 in Monticello, Ark., he was the son of the late J.B. Beard and Carrie Bea Clemons Beard. He worked in the auto parts business in England, Monticello and Warren for 50 years, was a U.S. Army Veteran from 1957 to 1963, served in National Guard/Army Reserve and was an Arkansas Game & Fish Commission Hunters Safety Instructor for many years. Mr. Beard was a member of Rose Hill Free Will Baptist Church where he served as deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and teacher and also assisted with the C.T.S. Program and the bus ministry. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny Lee Beard and Ronald Gene Beard. He is survived by his wife, whom he married Dec. 21, 1962 in England, Ark., Sharon Woodward Beard of Monticello; one son, Darwin Beard of Monticello; one daughter, D'Edra Ashworth of Monticello; two sisters, Edie Webb of Siloam Springs and Martha Ryburn of Monticello; one grandson, Darrin Armstrong; one granddaughter, Sarah McKinstry; and two great grandchildren, MacKenzie and Jadyne Armstrong. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Rose Hill Free Will Baptist Church with burial in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
