Wendell P. Strong, 92, of Little Rock transitioned peacefully in to the arms of our Heavenly Father during the wee hours of the morning Monday, October 21, 2013, with the love of his life nearby. W.P. was a lifetime member of White Memorial United Methodist Church, of the National Dunbar Alumni Association, and was a decorated WWII veteran. He leaves to cherish his precious memory his loving wife of 60 years, Annie Mae Strong; sons, Curtis Johnson (Lena), Curtis "Rocky" Rawls Jr. (Jan), and Rufus Rawls (Ann); two devoted daughters, Gwendolyn Strong-Zeigler (Charles) and Ruth Gee-Williams; 31 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; 2 nieces, Cassandra Wilson-Turney (Fred) and Faye James; cousins Jan Taylor, Nell Lamar, and Vera Riser all of Atlanta, Georgia; dedicated caregivers, James "Dave" Davis and Ruby Griffin; and many dear friends, especially the Rev. William H. Robinson, Jr. Services entrusted to Walton GateWay Funeral Chapel, 2405 South Gaines Street. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 26, at White Memorial UMC, 2801 So. Wolfe. No family hour but open visitation from 1-5:30 p.m. Friday, October 25, at the funeral home, 376-7188.
