Geraldine Gentry

Geraldine "Gerry" V. Gentry, age 93, passed away in her home on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013. She was born Oct. 31, 1919, in Sidon, Ark., to Susan Mary Francis Singleton and A. M. Vaughan. She married Readus D. Gentry of Searcy, Nov. 7, 1941. She was Bridal Consultant for many years with Dillards Department Store Longview, Texas. They retired from Texas Eastern Transmission Corp. in 1982 and returned to Searcy. She was a loving and faithful member of Faith Assembly of God Church, Searcy. Gerry was preceded in death by her husband Readus D. Gentry, daughter Linda Durke, and sons Paul R. Gentry and Jerald L. Gentry, her parents, and 13 brothers and sisters. She is survived by 2 daughters Susan Martin, Searcy, and Carole Sherman, husband Ron Norman, Oklahoma. She has 4 grandchildren: Taylor Durke, wife Alyson, Atlanta, Ga., Jordan Durke, Houston, Texas; Allison Sherman, Norman, Okla.; Morgan Sherman, Dallas, Texas. She has two great-grandchildren, Sadie Durke and Harrison Durke, Atlanta, Ga.; 1 brother-in-law, Lyndle Gentry, Searcy. Visitation will be Monday, September 2, 2013, from 5-7pm at Powell Funeral Home. Services will be Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at 10:00 am at the Faith Assembly of God Church, Highway 16, Searcy, Ark.
