Merriam "Boots" Wiggins

Merriam "Boots" Wiggins, 98, died on September 3, 2013 in Heber Springs. Born December 20, 1914 in Beebe, she grew up in Little Rock, where she married Frank L. Wiggins of Florida in 1937. They moved to Houston, Texas in 1938 when Frank began his 35 year career with Sears which had the family moving frequently. She was deeply involved with church activities, and taught Sunday school in many cities where they lived, including the Friendly Class at Heber Springs First United Methodist Church into her 90s. Her husband Frank preceded her in death on August 1, 2003. Merriam is survived by her sons and their wives, Joe and Mary Jane Wiggins of Fayetteville, Charles and Karen Wiggins of Bunda, Tanzania, where they serve as Methodist missionaries; daughter Penny Wiggins of Heber Springs, and son Robert Wiggins of Memphis; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, at the First United Methodist Church of Heber Springs.
