David Kern Dober

David Kern Dober, age 71, formerly of Little Rock, passed away in Roswell, Ga., on Sept. 5, 2013, from pancreatic cancer. David was born on Aug. 16, 1942, in Sandusky, Ohio, to the late David Thomas and Dorothy Ann Partenfelder Dober. In 1947, David's family moved to Little Rock, Ark. His family was one of the original members of Westover Hills Presbyterian Church. He earned his Eagle Scout award at the age of 14. In addition to the Eagle award, he earned the God and Country award, along with two Lincoln Trail Hiking medals. David was proud that his son Mark and twin nephews James and Daniel Dober also earned Eagle Scout awards. He graduated from Hall High and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He served as Treasurer of the Little Rock Jaycees and was the first recipient of the William J. Smith Award for outstanding Jaycee. He was also a member of the Little Rock Founders Lions Club. He began his career with the former Union National Bank of Little Rock, then Capital Savings and Loan, which subsequently merged into First South Federal Savings and Loan of Pine Bluff. In 1989, David relocated to Atlanta to work for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. David is survived by his companion of 20 years, Susan McKane Fritts of Roswell, Ga.; daughters, Deborah Belyeu and husband, Lee of Plano, Texas, Carol Wold and husband, Scott of Little Rock, Hannah Wilems and husband, James of The Woodlands, Texas; son, Mark Dober of San Francisco; sister, Marjorie King and husband, Terry of Jackson, Tenn.; and brother, Tom Dober and wife, Katherine of Little Rock. Other survivors include eight grandchildren, a niece, and four nephews. The body was cremated. Internment will be in the Columbarium at St. Luke's Presbyterian Church, Dunwoody, Ga.
