Fletcher B. Smih

Fletcher B. Smith, 78, of Little Rock, passed away September 16, 2013. He was born to Frances Rogers Smith and Gerald "Jigger" Smith in Stuttgart, and was raised in Camden. He attended the University of the South (Sewanee) and received his degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, where he met and married the love of his life, Shirley Adair. They raised their children in Pine Bluff and Crossett, then moved to Zachary, Louisiana, where Fletcher managed a paper mill for Georgia Pacific. After leaving Georgia Pacific, Fletcher traveled the world for the Beloit Corporation, and oversaw the construction of a pulp mill in Indonesia. Fletcher and Shirley retired to Little Rock where they watched their only grandchild grow up. Fletcher was an avid golfer, hunter, and fisherman. He loved his church and served on the vestry of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Crossett and as Senior Warden. He is survived by his beloved wife, his sons, Fletcher "Skip" Smith of Little Rock and Matthew Smith of Taipei, Taiwan; Matt's wife, Yang Su Feng; one grandson, Fletcher "Jack" Smith; and a host of close friends. A memorial service will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 1000 Mississippi Avenue, Little Rock, Ark. at 1 p.m. Monday, September 23, 2013, with interment at the columbarium at St. Mark's to follow.
