A Memorial Service for George "Fred" Attwood of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 2 p.m., Friday, September 20, 2013, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Tad Rogers officiating. There will be a Gathering of Friends from 1 p.m. until service time. Fred passed away September 17, 2013, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 64 after a hard fought battle with head and neck cancer. He was born February 16, 1949, in Monticello, Arkansas, the son of Curtis and Billie Jo Welch Attwood. He received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with a Minor in Mathematics from Ouachita Baptist University. He married Bonnie Williams on August 14, 1970, at Malvern, Arkansas and worked as a Quality Control Engineer for Baxter Healthcare for 28 years. He also worked for Bass Cat Boats for seven years, after leaving Baxter Healthcare, in their Human Resources and OSHA Department. Fred was a lifetime resident of Arkansas. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mountain Home. Fred was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman and offered advice to anyone who would listen. He taught his children to also love the outdoors. Fred leaves behind his wife, Bonnie Attwood of Mountain Home, Ark.; two sons, Tony (Jamie) Attwood of Fayetteville, Ark. and Chase Attwood of Mountain Home, Ark.; one daughter, Kerri (Lance) Gross of Mountain Home, Ark.; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bill and Elsie Williams, of Malvern, Ark., sister, Cheri (Jim) Price of Monticello, Ark.; sister-in-law, Brenda Williams of Rogers, Ark.; two grandchildren, Will and Gaby Gross and three nieces, Misti (Kevin) Price of Maumelle, Ark., Courtney (Caleb) Bishop of Maumelle, Ark., Amber Williams, of Rogers, Ark.; nephew, Eric (Teneka) Williams, of Rogers, Ark. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Wendell Williams. Burial will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, Arkansas with Lex Maples, Tim Coleman, Ron Kincade, Jim Price, Kevin Price, Lance Gross, Steve Irby and Mark Wilbur as honorary pallbearers.
