Micky Lynne (Oels) DeYoung of Lamar, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at UAMS in Little Rock, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Micky was born April 22, 1963, in San Diego, California. Micky is survived by her husband, Gregory DeYoung, her son Maxwell, and her daughters, Jessica and Claire DeYoung. Other survivors are her mother, Lorna Griffin Woods of Colorado Springs, Colorado, her cousin Ramona Fornes of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and two sisters, Melody Miron of Escanaba, Michigan and Pamela Caple of Bismarck, Arkansas. Preceding her in death were a daughter, Kathryn "Katie" Rose DeYoung, her father, Leon Oels, paternal grandparents, John and Annie Oels of Mountain Home, Arkansas and maternal grandparents, Newton McDonald "Mack" Griffin of Pandora, Texas and Majorie Wolf Berger, of Clovis, New Mexico. Micky graduated from Ole Main High School in North Little Rock, Arkansas in 1981, where she played clarinet in the band, was on the Flag Team and in the French Club. She continued her education at Arkansas Tech University and where she received her degree in Accounting and Economics in 1986. While at ATU she competed in the Miss ATU Pageant and won the honor of Miss Congeniality and was Fourth Runner Up. Micky was a very talented clarinet player. She won many awards and competitions, including the Arkansas All State Band Competition. At ATU she was a member of the ATU Band of Distinction and on the band flag team. Micky and Greg were married at the Levy Church of Christ in North Little Rock, Arkansas on March 1, 1986. Micky's hobbies were couponing, rebating and reading. Micky's greatest joy in her life was her children, Max, Jess, and Claire. A visitation will be held at the Roller - Cox Funeral Home from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2013, 701 Rogers Street, Clarksville, Arkansas.
