Imogene Brittain Moore of Sheridan, Arkansas, lovingly known as "Granny" passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014. She was born September 20, 1922 in Charlotte, Arkansas to P. Colon and Lucy Bullington Brittain. Imogene was the widow of Jeryl Troy Moore. They were married March 20, 1942 and would have celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary this year. She was a devoted wife and loving mother of their son, Troy Eugene Moore. Preceding her in death were her parents and husband, Jeryl. She is survived by her son, Troy Moore of Sheridan, Ark.; grandchildren, Jennifer Moore Anderson and husband Danny of Little Rock, Paula Moore Mallory of Little Rock, Amanda Moore Kelley and husband Ken of Alexander, and Jeryl Stoner Moore and wife Chelsei of East End. Imogene had eight great grandchildren; Gabriel, Graydon, and Charlotte Kate Anderson; Hunter, Hayden, and Holten Strom and Kolt Kelley; and Rosemary Caroline Mallory. Imogene was active in the Baptist Church with her faith guiding her through the end of her life. She was a long time member of Center Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Charlotte, Arkansas and was never without a church home. She was a member of Shannon Road Baptist Church in Watson Chapel, Arkansas. She graduated in 1941 as valedictorian of her class from Newark High School. Working in varied jobs from a defense plant during World War II in Dallas, Texas shortly after her marriage, to a shoe factory, public library, and a Sears store in Batesville, Ark. Her last official job had her greeting people as they entered Sheridan Wal-Mart. Imogene said her favorite work was in sales. Her beloved pastime was arts and crafts and has left a legacy of creations that will be treasured always. A celebration of her life will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Tommy Jones and Bro. Gene Tripplet officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10 a.m. until service time. A graveside service for the family will be held at Center Grove Cemetery in Charlotte, Arklansas at a late date.
