Mary Edith Peterson Cawthon

Mary Edith Peterson Cawthon, 86, joined the Heavenly angels on Tuesday April 22, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, William (Bill) Eugene Cawthon. Mary Edith was born on December 3, 1927 in Thornton, Ark. to Alfred and Lillian Idell Peterson. She was the oldest sister to siblings Dorothy, Mona, Martha Jo and Alfred Wesley Peterson, Jr. Mary liked nothing better than the opportunity to cook for her friends and family. Her cornbread dressing and peach cobbler are legendary. She was fiercely loyal to family and friends, and instilled in her children a drive to work hard, always do the right thing and lean on the Lord. We rejoice in the knowledge that she no longer suffers and is with her precious Bill singing praises to the Lord. Mary loved the Lord….served her Primitive Baptist Church, lived a life of faith and was the ever devoted partner to her lifelong love, Bill. She is survived by son, Mike and wife Virginia Cawthon of Mount Ida, Ark.; daughter, Lillian Peyton of White Hall, Ark.; grandson, Michael and Canem Cawthon of Fayetteville, Ark.; granddaughter, Heather Walter of White Hall; great-grandson, Levi Cawthon and great-granddaughter Chloe Walter.
