Ernesteen Howard, 86, of Dallas, Texas, formerly of Fort Smith passed from this life August 10, 2014 in Dallas. She was born December 16, 1927, in Fort Smith, to the late Ernest and Martha Pitts Rutledge. Ernesteen was a lifelong member of Wesley United Methodist Church and was retired from Raymond Orr Elementary as a first grade teacher. She is survived by her three sons, Bruce Howard and his wife Leesa of Greenwood, Arkansas and Steve Howard and his wife Debbie of Porter, Texas and Karl Howard and his wife Megan of 29 Palms, California; two brothers, Thurman Rutledge of Greenwood, Indiana and Bob Rutledge of Vail, Colorado; five grandchildren, Adam Howard, Lindsay Horne, Jonathan and Matthew Howard and Stephanie Rae Natour, as well as six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband SSgt. Robert C. Howard, as well as her sister Pauline Rutledge Turner and her brother LaVern Rutledge. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2014 in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Fort Smith National Cemetery.
