Roberta Cox Thomas

Roberta Cox Thomas, 92 of Arkadelphia, Ark. passed away August 17, 2014. Roberta was born in Friendship, Ark. on November 9, 1921 to William M. and Hattie Fowler. She was a graduate of Ouachita Baptist College and taught school for many years in Smackover. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Smackover, and she enjoyed painting. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Lloyd, Graham, Gilbert, Ambres and Ed; one sister, Hortense L. Garrett; and her husband, E.L. Cox. She is survived by her husband, Edward W. Thomas of El Dorado; step-son, Ronald Thomas of Beeville, Texas; and step-daughter, Judy Thomas of Kermit, Texas, and many loving family members. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Young's Funeral Directors in El Dorado, Ark. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Smackover with Rev. Carley Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Smackover Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
