Mary Jane Edmondson, 95 of Mabelvale, Arkansas was born in Carlisle, Arkansas on December 14, 1918. She was one of seven children born to the late Darcie and Lena Booe. She passed from this life on January 22, 2014 to be with her Heavenly Father. She graduated from Hazen High School. After graduating from college, she taught school at Hamilton (Carlisle). She met and married Edward Edmondson in Carlisle. She then became a farmer's wife. They moved to Eudora, Arkansas to farm and Edward surrendered to the ministry. He gave her the name "Josephine". This name was used to tell her he needed her assistance. They pastored churches at Parkdale, Arkansas; Chicot, Eudora, Ironton Baptist in Little Rock; Sunset Lane Baptist in Little Rock; Pleasant Grove Baptist in Ferndale and Pine Grove Baptist in Little Rock. She started a Day School at Sunset Lane Baptist at no pay for two years. After two years she and Betty O'Kelly drew 25 cents an hour until she built the school up. She reached many families for the Lord through the Day School and all her workers were proud to work with the kids. She loved her children and grandchildren and was always concerned for their well being. She taught Sunday School at all the churches and has friends from all the churches she has stayed in contact with. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Edmondson; parents; sisters, Clarice Holland; Margaret Booe; Velma Shidler; Faye Allison; brothers, Leroy Booe and Doris Booe grandchildren, Mickey Edmondson and Patrick Edmondson. She is survived by children: Mike Edmondson (Sarah); Jerry Edmondson (Carol); Margaret Horton (Don); grandchildren: Kim Saneda (Philip); Chris Horton (Shannon); Jessica East (Jeff); great grandchildren, Justin Saneda (Karen); Faith Saneda; Katlynn Edmondson; Breanna Edmondson; Travis Edmondson; Skyler Cook, Nash Horton; Griffin Horton; great-great grandchild, Gunner Saneda and sister, Anna Trickey. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Friday, January 24, 2014 at Vimy Ridge Immanuel Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Spradlin officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
