Billy Ray Fine, age 84, passed away July 2, 2014 in Fayetteville. He was born January 2, 1930 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Charley and Beulah Fine. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Louise Maddox. They moved to Lowgap then to West Fork where he went to school and graduated in 1949. He always talked about the West Fork Basketball Team and bragged about beating Springdale. After graduating, he spent two years in the United States Army during the Korean War. After his military service, he managed an appliance store for Gus Clifton in Fayetteville. It was then that he met Christine Edwards and they married August 16, 1955. Bill spent 25 years with Scott Supply Company and later formed B & E Specialties with Ernest Smith (Smitty) and called on the same poultry plants and sold first aid and poultry supplies. Bill thought of all his customers and treated them as his family. Bill was a charter member of the Springdale-Fayetteville Elks Lodge, and a member of the Springdale Moose Lodge. He was a Mason and Shriner and received his 50 year pin from Schimitar Temple. Bill was past president of the Springdale Jaycees and was a National Jaycee Vice President. Also, along with the late Dr. Robert McCollum, founded the Washington County Razorback Booster Club. Bill is survived by his wife, Christine Edwards Fine, two sons: Rick Fine and wife Joyce and Randy Fine, both of Springdale, Arkansas; and the two joys of his life, grandsons, Michael and Patrick Fine and many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Dr. David Ratcliff and his nurse Vickie Hopkins. Visitation will be 10 a.m. – 12 noon, Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Moore's Chapel followed by a funeral service at 12 noon.
