Our sweet Gwynda "Gwyn" Snider, passed away on July 23, 2014, in Stuttgart. She was 54. Gwyn battled cancer for just over the past year and never ever gave up, not once. She refused to focus on the "why" of her illness and was determined to get well enough for her next chemotherapy session. She was continually looking forward and making plans, right up to the end. She made her home in Benton, Ark. where she enjoyed living on the edge of the lake behind her home. She also made a habit of staying with her parents frequently in Ulm, Ark. Gwyn was born in Stuttgart, Ark. on June 9, 1960. She followed in the footsteps of her Dad and began riding Tennessee Walking Horses at the age of 13. She competed in and won many Racking Horse Competitions. She had a love for music and sports, displaying her fierce competitive spirit playing basketball for Stuttgart High School, playing softball and excelling in intramural sports for Chi Omega, during her college years at ASU. Reading through many comments posted by her sorority sisters on Facebook, it is clear that Gwyn brought joy and laughter to all who were blessed to know her. She graduated from Stuttgart High School in 1978 and then attended Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Ark., where she was a very active member of Chi-Omega Sorority. She earned her degree in Radiologic Technology in 1983 and shortly thereafter, began her career in Radiology at Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton, Ark. She later transitioned to the field of Lithotripsy, where she traveled to various hospitals, performing procedures in the states of Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Kansas. She held a position as a Lithotripsy Technician with Litho of America until the time of her death. She was loved and highly respected by her co-workers and the staff at the hospitals she dealt with, who requested her specifically for their procedures. Gwyn was a consummate professional in her work. Gwyn was also very giving of her time and resources. Several years ago, she took a sabbatical from her career during her Grandmother Trice's illness, in order to care for her personally. She actively supported her favorite charity, St. Jude Hospital, along with the Boys and Girls Club of America. Gift giving was Gwyn's love language. She was also a bargain hunter and was known for having amazingly completed her Christmas shopping for the entire family before the end of March or April of every year. She loved her family and her friends so very much and they will cherish 54 years of memories with her, until they meet again. Gwyn was baptized on April 22, 1990, at Sharon Missionary Baptist Church in Benton, Ark. by Bro. Glen Tropp. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Snider and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Trice. Survivors are her parents, Gerald and Phyllis Snider of Ulm; uncle, Rick Trice (Karen) of Harrison; aunts, Marian McGovern (Roger) of Rogers and Katie Moody (Gene) of Brummitt; cousins, Bruce Trice (Janice) of North Little Rock, Nancy Trice Brittain (Matt) of Victoria, Texas, Rae Ann Lockwood (Kent) of Stuttgart and Chad Moody of Brummitt; and special family, Debbie and Roger Wright of Benton and goddaughter Ashley Wright of Little Rock. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Turpin Funeral Home in Stuttgart with burial following in Lone Tree Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. before her service.
