Paul Mansfield 71, of Benton, Arkansas died July 23rd, 2014 after a full life of joy and happiness with his family, church members, and many friends he met in retail store management. He was born on March 20, 1943 in Bauxite, Arkansas to Clarence and Edna Mansfield. Paul was a member of Smith Street church of Christ. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Paula (McClure) Mansfield; two sons, Johnny Mansfield and wife Anna Beth and Jerry Mansfield and wife, Becky, both of Alexander; brother, James Mansfield, Benton; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ronnie; one sister, Martha Sue Avaritt, and one brother, Curtis R. Mansfield. He was selected in "Who's Who" in Arkansas and in America for his outstanding retail achievement. Copies of these accomplishments are posted in libraries in Arkansas and throughout the U.S. He always loved meeting people and visiting about their interests. He never met a stranger. He loved to sing and was a music director in the Church of Christ. He loved to travel with his family, having lived in five different states as a store manager with Gibsons and Walmart Discount Stores for many years. He was ranked number 8 manager in the "Top 10" store managers in 1982. He and Paula received a plaque from Mr. Sam and Helen Walton for this achievement. He retired from Walmart in 1998 after 20 years of service. He worked 40 years in retail store management from Gingles' Department Store, Rhea's Men's Store, West Department Store, Gibsons, and Walmart. He was an early promoter of the Boys' and Girls' Club in the 60's, trying to get one built in the city of Benton. He served in the Lion's Club, Kiwanis Club, and Chamber of Commerce. He was appointed by the Benton city Mayor as chairman of the "Keep Benton Beautiful" program and served for several years. He loved singing in a quartet with his nephews, church members, or anyone who wanted to sing. Pallbearers: Bob Harris, Nelson Styers, George Chenault, Kevin Mansfield, Stanley Mansfield, Terry Avaritt, Ken Avaritt, Ricky LaSage. Visitation will be Friday, July 25th 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ashby Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Ashby Funeral Home on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 11 a.m. with internment at New Rosemont Cemetery on Military Road in Benton.
