O.B. Taylor, 96, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home Tuesday, July 22, 2014. Mr. Taylor was born April 23, 1918 in Tinsman, Arkansas to the late Aubern and Millie Mae Rowland Taylor. He is survived by his wife, Velma Hairston Taylor; three children: Doug (Phyllis) Taylor of Benton, Arkansas, Chris (Autumn) Taylor of San Antonio, Texas, and Connie (Danny) Smith of North Little Rock, Arkansas; brother, A.W. Taylor of Van Buren, Arkansas; sister, Carrie Taylor Bost of Waxhaw, North Carolina; six grandchildren: Tracy (Scott) Lipsett of Newbury Park, California , Daniel Taylor of Seattle, Washington, Kathleen Taylor of Durham, North Carolina, Beth Smith of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Jacob Taylor of Knoxville, Tennessee, and John Smith of North Little Rock, Arkansas; one great-grandchild, Alex Lipsett of Newbury Park, California; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Bernice Taylor Van Deusen, of Haskell, Arkansas. Mr. Taylor was a World War II veteran and served in four major European campaigns. O.B. "Cigar Man" was a truck driver by trade and retired from Roadway Trucking Company in 1985. He and his wife were faithful members of Immanuel Baptist Church for 45 years. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Immanuel Baptist Church Chapel, Little Rock, Arkansas, with Dr. Rex Horne officiating. Graveside services will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park, Highway 5, Alexander, Arkansas.
