Ronald Wayne Stobaugh, 68, of Russellville, died Saturday, March 1, 2014, at his home. He was born March 26, 1945, in Morrilton, to Orville and Dollie Etta Sheridan Stobaugh. Ron retired on April 1, 1988, from the Russellville Police Department after serving 23 years of service. He began his career with the department on July 16, 1965, and served as the Chief of Police from 2001-2003. He also worked for the Arkansas State Police as a driver's license examiner for six years, and served on the Pope County 911 Advisory Board for six years. He served on the Supervisory Board of the Arkansas Crime Information Center from 1977-1992. He was a lifetime member of the Arkansas Association of Chiefs of Police and served on the Criminal Detention Facility Review Committee Judicial District No. 5. He was also an Arkansas Municipal Police lifetime member. Ron was a member of the Hopewell Baptist church in Atkins. He looked forward to meeting and greeting members and guests by passing out bulletins. He felt this was very important for the church family. He was preceded in death by is parents; five brothers, Danny, Jimmy, Don, Dean and Odie Stobaugh; and a sister, Billie Jean Martin. Ron was married to the love of his life, Donna (Jones) Stobaugh. They were married on Dec. 23, 1996. Survivors include his wife, Donna Stobaugh; a son, Matthew Wayne Stobaugh and his wife, Holli (Potts) Stobaugh; a granddaughter, Kennedy Claire Stobaugh; his brothers and sisters, George Stobaugh and his wife, Janette, Varnold Stobaugh, Patsy Dunn and Betty Lou Dunn; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mary and Dale Murry, John and Rita Jones, Helen Reynolds, Randy and Virginia Laverty, Eddie Jones, Rodney and Shena Jones, Mark Jones, Mary Ann Stobaugh and Paula Stobaugh; and numerous nephews and nieces. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Second Baptist Church of Russellville, officiated by the Rev. Charlie Bird. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Morrilton, by Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville. Active pallbearers will be Tracy Stobaugh, Jimmy Stobaugh, Terry Stobaugh, Steve Stobaugh, Mark Stobaugh, Bruce Brown, David Stobaugh, and Maxie Mathis. Honorary pallbearers will be the Russellville Police Department officers and the Arkansas Retired Chiefs of Police. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, from 4:30-6:30 p.m., at the funeral home.
