Lou Adams, 80, of Russellville, died Monday, November 3, 2014 at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville. The daughter of Noel and Maxine VanDover, she was born November 24, 1933 in Plainview. She was a graduate of Plainview-Rover High School, Arkansas Tech University and the University of Arkansas, majoring in Home Economics. Lou and Travis Adams were married on August 28, 1955. After a year in England, and following Travis for two years in the Armed Services, they moved to Nashville, Tenn. She was employed as a Home Economist with the Nashville Gas Company, while Travis attended graduate school at Vanderbilt University. Along with her boss and friend, Lalah Gee Williams, she received national recognition while demonstrating the effectiveness of a gas augmented dishwasher. Moving to Russellville in 1966, she became a member of the Russellville Junior Auxiliary, PEO Sisterhood, and First United Methodist Church where she was active in the Stephen's Ministry and a member of the Carden Sunday School Class. She loved cooking, sewing, gardening and making floral arrangements which she gave to friends and to the staff of Russellville Nursing Center. She was preceded in death by her parents and three aunts and uncles. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Travis Adams, Russellville; son, Andy (Chanda) Adams of Little Rock; daughter, Anna (Randy Crowell) Adams, Shawnee, Kan.; two grandchildren, Maggie and Emma and two step-grandchildren, Levi and Ava Crowell. Burial will be private at Sandlin Cemetery in Ola, Ark. by Humphrey Funeral Service. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
