Harold Rex Lawman

Rex Lawman, 100, of Springdale passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Willard Walker Hospice in Fayetteville. He was born September 16, 1914 in Severy, Kansas to Harley and Jesse Lawman. He completed high school there and in 1936, he married the love of his life for 70 years, Mildred Speer. Wanting to provide better for his family, Rex worked in many jobs until he found his niche in selling. He worked for Central Bag Company in Kansas City, Missouri for 40 years. During World War II, because of his background working in electricity, he was selected to be in the Office of War Information and ran the Voice of America Radio. He had many hobbies including woodworking, farming, traveling in a motor home, and enjoyed his cabin in the Little Red River area. He was a member of the Church of Christ for over 60 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, a grandson, his parents and two sisters. Survivors include daughters, Karen H. Lawman of Springdale and Andrea L. Baldwin of Cornville, Arizona as well as daughter by choice, Lola T. West of Springdale; grandchildren, Jason Hawk of Arivaca, Arizona and Jordan Baldwin of Cornville, Arizona; two great-grandchildren, Kamui and River Baldwin, many nieces and nephews and two special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Terry Hearld and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Adkins. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19th at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Rd., North Little Rock. A Memorial service will be held at the funeral home at 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 20th with inurnment to follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
