Ennis Winford Smith

Ennis Winford "Smitty" Smith, 83, of Warren, entered eternal rest Sunday, September 28, 2014 at his residence. Born on September 16, 1931 in Cass County, Texas to Ennis Walker and Ola Marteen Rankin Smith, Winford (as his family called him) was welcomed into a large and loving family that taught him a love of God, love for others and a strong work ethic which he exercised whether at work in the oil field or taking care of his garden. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 54 years, Mardell Willis Smith; brothers, Clyde Glennon, Billy Wayne and Cloyd Edwin Smith; one sister-in-law, Jewell Smith; and and one brother-in-law, Jack Seney. "Smitty" is survived by his wife, Sandra Smith of Warren, his son, Michael Winford Smith (Kim) of Arkadelphia, his daughter Regina Smith Askew (Joey) of El Dorado; three grandsons, Christopher Smith (Summer) of Arkadelphia, Joseph Baird and Benjamin Clark Askew of El Dorado; Sandra's children, Pam Hayes of Luther, Oklahoma, Martin Hayes (Debbie) of Warren, and Greg Hayes (Lagina) of Hermitage; grandchildren, Tyler Hayes of Warren, Lindsey and Seth Hayes of Hermitage, and Bethany Hayes Pennington of Warren; four great-grandchildren, Brian, Emma, Jayden and Brady. Surviving siblings are two brothers, Duane Smith (Lynell) of Shongaloo, La. and Bobby Smith (Ruth Ann) of Arvada, Colo.; five sisters, Maydale Enloe of Gladewater, Texas, Hazel Cunningham of El Dorado, Maxine Bridge of Taylor, Midge Carey (James) of Holly Lake Ranch, Texas, and Janice "Teeny" Seney of Georgetown, Texas; also surviving are 2 sisters-in-law, Beth McEachern of Shreveport, La., and Joyce Ann Smith of Shongaloo, La. Visitation will be held in the sanctuary of Cross Life Church Saturday, October 4, 2014, at 10 a.m. The funeral service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. with the brother of the deceased, Reverend Duane Smith, and son-in-law Joey Askew officiating. Burial will take place at the Smith Memorial Cemetery in Shongaloo, La. under the direction of Arkansas Funeral Care. Memorials may be made to the Donald W.
