Ava Lee Rogers, 91, of Traskwood was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, Oct. 3, 2014. She was born on Aug. 29, 1923 in Berta, Ark. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Washington Davis and Emzie Belle Turney Davis of Perryville, Ark; four brothers, Andrew, Lawrence, Richard and Troy Davis; three sisters, Martha Wise, Floy Parsons and Vernice Hughes; her first husband, Chester Tallent of Hollis; her second husband, Clarence Gross of Traskwood; her third husband, McKelvy Rogers of Traskwood; her son, Charles Tallent and her daughter, Louise Bata. Her survivors include her sister, Mary Lois Farmer of Fort Worth, Texas; son, Clinton Tallent (Bonnie) of Benton; daughter, Erma Matuszyk of Little Rock; nine grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. God was always the center of her life, even from a young age growing up on a farm in Hollis. She was a talented seamstress and incredibly gifted baker and always enjoyed finding ways to share those skills with her friends and family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and loved being surrounded by her grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Dave Tallent, Billy Haynes, John Matuszyk, Ron Bata Sr., Ron Bata, Jr. and George Davis. Chapel services by Ashby Funeral Home will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, with Bro. Jimmy Corder officiating. Burial will follow at Traskwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday at Ashby Funeral Home, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. A special thanks to her other family, the staff of Heartland Rehabilitation & Care Center, for their loving care and support during her final years.
