Maxine Parsons Cain

Maxine Parsons Cain, of Warren, died on October 6, 2014, at the Hospice Home Care facility in Little Rock. She was born on October 20, 1926, in Mountain View, Arkansas, daughter of Jack and Arlie Long Parsons. After World War II, she became a beautician and owned a beauty shop for six years before marrying Robert L. Cain, a management forester, and moving to Warren where they lived for the 54 years of their marriage until his death on October 9, 2007. During those years, she was an active member of The First Presbyterian Church in Warren where she served as an elder, taught Sunday school and worked in many other capacities, including Women of the Church and hospitality. (Remember those All-Bran rolls?) For a time, she was also a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. An accomplished seamstress, she made many beautiful clothes for herself and her children, kept an immaculate house, and tended a bountiful garden. She was active in the Warren YMCA and devoted herself to the many school, church, sports and music activities of her multi-generational family spanning over 50 years. Her dedication to family, church and community was evident in all that she did. In addition to her husband and parents, her only sibling, William Franklin Parsons of Mountain View, preceded her in death. She is survived by her four children, Larry D. Bates of Little Rock and his wife, Sherry, Mary Ellen Cain of Silver Spring, Md., Susan Cain Hunter of Fort Smith, and Dr. Robert C. Cain of Knoxville, Tenn. and his wife, Dr. Pamela Cain; her sister-in-law, Helen Parsons of Mountain View, Ark., nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services 2 p.m. Thursday, October 9th at Frazer's Chapel with Rev. Philip Farris officiating. Burial in Oakland Cemetery.
