Harvey L. Wade, 86, of Mabelvale, passed away October 21, 2014. Born in Little Rock to William David and Toni Lou Cushing Wade, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was retired from Little Rock Sheet Metal Company after 30 years of service. Private First Class Harvey L. Wade, Medical Corps, U.S. Army, a member of Medical Company, 17th Infantry, distinguished himself by heroic achievement near Packsok, Korea. On February 8, 1953, while his unit was subjected to intense enemy artillery and mortar fire, Private Wade voluntarily left his vehicle, ran through the enemy fire, and gave much needed aid to a wounded patrol leader. After administering medical treatment, he helped carry the wounded officer to his litter jeep. Then Private Wade voluntarily returned to the same area and assisted in giving medical treatment to the other wounded. Still exposed to the intense enemy fire, he participated in carrying the casualties to the litter jeep. When all casualties were in his vehicle, he quickly evacuated them through the enemy fire to the aid station. The heroic actions of Private Wade reflect great credit on himself and the military service. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his valor. He entered the Federal service from Arkansas. Preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Rebecca Wade and grandson, Tony Jones.
