Joyce Anne Thompson Givens

Graveside memorial services for Ms. Joyce Anne Thompson Givens, 84 will be at a later date at the family cemetery plot in Cherry Valley, Ark. Ms. Givens passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014 at The Gardens at Arkanshire in Springdale, Ark. She was born in Franklin, Tenn. in 1930. After working in Memphis, she moved to Little Rock where she worked as a executive secretary at Union Pacific Railroad from where she retired. Joyce enjoyed fishing and gardening and was involved for many years in professional women's association. Her parents preceded her in death, as did her brother, Dwain Buddy Thompson. Survivors include daughter, Debra Givens Spurgeon and husband John of Bella Vista; granddaughters, Carla Hodges and husband Jeff of Fayetteville, and Leigh Collins and husband Jon of Rogers; and great-grandchildren, Mitchell and Spenser Coburn; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cremation is under the direction of the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, the Humane Society of the Ozarks, Bella Vista Animal Shelter, or an agency of your choice.
