Mavis Massey Hager

Mavis Massey Hager, 85, passed away Friday, Sept. 12, 2014 in her home at Home Style Assisted Living in Springdale, Ark. The family offers gracious thanks to the kind staff members and owners of HomeStyle Living for the care given to our mother and grandmother over the past year. Mavis M. Hager was born May 1, 1929 in Stone County, Ark., near Alco, the daughter of Cora Mae Richardson and Leonard Wilson Massey. Mavis Richardson (King) married Paul James Hager March 04, 1949. She is survived by her two children: daughter, Marilyn S. Hillsman and her husband, William A. Hillsman of Warrensburg, Mo. and son, James (Jim) W. Hager, and his wife, Pam A. Hager of Springdale, Ark.; six grandchildren, Michelle (Gifford) White, Felicia Gifford, Whitnee (Hager) Mills, Naomi (Hillsman) Robertson, Charity (Hillsman) Stapp, and Brent Hager; 10 great-grandchildren, Ciara D. Fewell, Mark Fewell, Meagan White, Hailey Shonkwiler, Tyler White, William Stapp, Cole Hager, Micah Mills, Hannah Hager, and Caleb Hager. Mavis was a lifelong homemaker who loved her family and God. She lived her faith daily, and was kind to those she encountered. She loved to cook, and to design and sew beautiful clothing. Mavis was preceded in death by her husband, Paul James Hager; her brother, William King; son-in-law, Reggie R. Gifford; great-granddaughter, Lydia Grace Mills; and step-granddaughter, Tamara Jayne Hillsman. Graveside Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014 at the Levisy Flatt Cemetery in Mountain View, Ark., with Rev. Don Strait officiating.
