Evelyn Bishop Gamble, 87, of Little Rock, died September 27, 2014. She was the daughter of George Porter Bishop and Mabel Irene Newsom Bishop. Evelyn graduated high school in Paragould, Ark. and worked at Sterling Stores where she met her husband Homer T. Gamble. She started her banking career in 1956 at Bank of Arkansas and was the first woman in Arkansas to become an officer before the bank was purchased by Worthen Bank & Trust Co. in 1964. She retired in 1993 from Worthen Bank after 37 years of service as an Assistant Vice President in Loan Operations. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Homer T. Gamble, brothers, Harry, George, Wylie and Jack, and sister Betty Sue Barnett. Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Elmlawn Cemetery, 5810 W. 12th St., Little Rock, AR.
