Lawrence Robert "Larry" Eden, 82, of Springdale, died Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville after a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disea se). He was born April 15, 1932 in Kansas City, Kansas to Clarence Edward and Anna Elizabeth DeGraeve Eden.Larry was an avid vegetable gardener and an active member at St. Raphael Catholic Church where he volunteered in many capacities. He was also a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and served as Grand Knight for two years. He served in the Coast Guard during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Anita (Swanson) Eden, of the home, whom he married April 22, 1961 in Kansas City, Kansas; five daughters, Jenifer Kirkland of Springdale, Stephanie Mourao of Maumelle, Teresa Herrell and husband Bryan of Springdale, Laurie Fermaintt and husband Oscar of Phoenix, Arizona, Kerry Hendren of Tulsa; one brother, Mike Eden of Gardner, Kansas; one sister, Emma Stirlen of Smithville, Missouri; and eight grandchildren, Brent Kirkland (Brittney), Kelsey Sundara (Daniel), Alexandra Mourao, Jordan Herrell, Peyton Herrell, Megan Dickard, Braden Dickard and Haley Hendren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 10, at St. Raphael Catholic Church. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Tontitown. Visitation will begin at 4:30 followed by a Rosary at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to ALS In Wonderland, 1321 Scott St., Little Rock, Ark. 72202. The family would like to thank Larry's aides, Brittany Wyles, Nita Smith and David Wilson, who cared for him during his illness.
