Edoline King Chester Olmstead, 95, died July 25, 2015 in Dallas, Texas. She was born April 16, 1920 to Raymond King and Verta Long King in Greenfield, Missouri. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and father to her children, Clyde Chester, her second husband Charles Olmstead, stepson Philip Olmstead and her only sibling, brother, Wilbur King. Children and stepchildren that survive her: David Chester, Allen, Texas, Kenneth Chester (Debbie), Coral Springs, Florida, Mark Chester (Kris), Dallas, Texas, Jane Chester Clark (Jim), Little Rock, Arkansas, Michael Olmstead (Tanja) Conroe, Texas, Greg Olmstead (Eppie) Eagar, Arizona, Gale Olmstead Jones (Jean) Winslow, Arizona, and Diana Lynn Olmstead Galbreath, Manchaca, Texas. She has 13 biological grandchildren, Amber Chester Bachura (Bart), Casey Gault, Alison Chester Alvarez, Sara Gault Hill (Danny), Ashleigh Chester Connell (Trevor), Cameron Chester, Kristen Chester Hardy (Jonathan), Rachel Chester, Conner Chester, Jacob Chester, Lauren Chester, Shelby Chester and Shannon Chester. She has 7 great grandchildren, Greta, Isabella, Kade, Caroline, Andrew, Luke and Aubrey. She is also survived by many step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Edoline grew up in Springfield, Missouri, graduated from Greenwood High School in 1938 and attended Harding College in Searcy, Arkansas. She then attended Draughn's Business School. Clyde and Edoline were married in 1942 and when World War II was over, their children were born as part of the baby boom. Clyde and Edoline worked in a dry cleaning shop they owned until 1954 when Edoline began work as a bookkeeper for R. B. Petty. In 1964 the family moved to Little Rock, Arkansas where she worked for Mr. Petty's son, Carl Petty, as bookkeeper and executive secretary for Petty's Drug Stores. She retired in 1988, married Charles Olmstead in 1992 and moved to Phoenix, Arizona where she also lived a full and happy life. She moved back to Little Rock in 2012. Edoline was a faithful member of the church of Christ her entire life. Her memberships included South National church of Christ (Springfield, Missouri), 6th & Izard and WindSong church of Christ (Little Rock, Arkansas) and West Olive church of Christ (Phoenix, Arizona). Edoline was active in community volunteer organizations including American Business Women's Association, The Quota Club and she was a charter member of Little Rock's Master Gardeners. She was an active member of the Artistic Weavers and Fiber Artists in Sun City, Arizona. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date in Dallas, Texas in addition to a private family graveside service in Springfield, Missouri.
